Johnny C
Born June 2, 2004
Domestic Short Hair - Black
(with a white spot on his chest)
Johnny C was born almost 2 hours after the first two kittens, and he was quite a bit bigger than his brother and sister. We were very thankful that we didn't have any complications with Mysti, due to his size, and we were also thankful he was the last one!! When it came time for naming him, he made this "musical note" sound when Bj picked him up. He didn't have much of a voice at the time, but his little squeeks still sounded like music to her ears. She's always been a huge fan of Johnny Cash, and he was always known as "the man in black", so it didn't take her long at all to choose this name.
Johnny C has been our little "energizer bunny" as soon as he was able to start moving around. While the kittens were still young, and confined to a smaller area, he would move his little legs as fast as he could and spend time just going from one end of the area to the other. As their area grew larger over time, his energy levels grew right along with it!! There didn't seem to be anything too big to climb, and if he didn't succeed the first time, he would try again! He's always been very steady on his feet, though, and it's probably from all that back and forth crawling he did right from the start. His nap times have always been shorter than the rest of the cats, and we figure it's because he's got so much to do, and so much time to do it!!!

Both the boys spent as much time as possible out in the breezeway this past summer, sitting in the windows and watching birds, or squirrels, or anything else that caught their fancy. He doesn't have a 'favorite toy' because he's always too busy going from one thing to the next. He's also a very independent little fella, but it doesn't stop him from joining in with other games going on that strikes his fancy, or making sure he checks out whatever his brother decides to check out!!

He doesn't like to be picked up. His legs start flying as fast as they did when he first learned to crawl, walk, and run. He's always been that way, and probably will stay that way. But he's beginning to enjoy the attention cats get when they lay there and purr out "pet me, pet me", so he's beginning to crawl on laps now and reap those wonderful benefits!! We wouldn't want to call him a "trouble maker", you know, but he's also the one who has to be right in the middle of whatever's going on. He's right there to help clean the litter boxes, or sit on the counter and watch Bj wash the dishes, and he's also the built in alarm clock around here, except that HE decides what time everybody should wake up!!
As challenging as things were for Bj this summer, with her health issues, having the kittens around was good therapy. She stayed pretty busy trying to keep up with them, and sometimes that's a good thing. They've brought a lot of joy into our lives, and all things considered, we'd do the whole thing all over again!!
